184) Divorce Appraisal

Hello Henry
Thank you in advance for the providing me the ability to question you directly.

I'm tackling my first appraisal for divorce proceedings and hoped you would have some tips. I am supporting my conclusions with never ending data but I need to confirm with an expert if there are any little details I might need to include....

Any advice will be gladly accepted.

Dear Robert,
Divorce appraisals can get ugly. It is an easy way to make enemies.

That said, they are no different than any other appraisal. Be sure to have a scope of work discussion with whomever hires you. Make sure they want Market Value. Also agree on the type of report needed and the date of the appraisal. Be sure to determine who will pay you if you have to make a deposition or go to court and include this information in your contract or assignment letter.
