Dear Henry,
I appraise properties in an area with numerous military bases and properties close to airports that are located in noise/crash zones.
What is the best way to find out if a property is actually in a noise/crash zone? Occasionally the MLS will have this notation listed but I'd like a more reliable source. Also, what kind of comments or disclosures should be included in the appraisal?

I would start by asking some of the municipal officials (zoning officer, building inspector, engineer, assessor, etc.). Then you should carefully describe what you have learned about the property's location in your comments, based on your research.
