139) Older Appraisers

Dear H2:
What is the best way to get appraisal work when you are 81 and disabled, but still want to work ?
Ben W. Hibbler bhibbler@comcast.net
Dear Ben,
I am 77 and still working pretty much full time. I recently went to a Past President's night at the CT Appraisal Institute Chapter. I was far from the oldest working member attending.
I suggest you try and find a good residential appraiser in your area and offer to help with their more complex assignments. Often a smaller shop will need "extra hands" and if you have the experience, you could be useful to them. This of course assumes that you have these skills.

P.S. My children tell me that 70 is the new 50, which means (I suppose) that 80 is the new 60. Good luck.
